The Hindu is an English-language Indian daily newspaper founded and continuously published from Chennai since 1878. According to the Indian Readership Survey in 2012 it is the third most widely read English newspaper in India (after the Times of India and Hindustan Times) with a readership of 2.2 million people.[3] The Hindu has its largest base of circulation in southern India, especially in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and it is also the most widely read English daily in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Headquartered at Chennai (formerly called Madras), The Hindu was published weekly when it was launched in 1878, and started publishing daily in 1889.

Are you familiar with MAC command terminal, if yes then proceed to the below steps.
First you need to install "Wget" and "Ghostscript" on your mac, follow this tutorials for downloading and installing this software.

After success full installation of above two software follow the below tutorial to make the .sh file executable and run on your MAC OS X

ReplyDeleteHello sir,
In-order to run this script on any version of Micro$oft windows, firstly you need to install a software named "Cygwin". Look at the above post clearly and there I mentioned a website link for how to install "Cygwin" and how to run a .sh script on a window$ machine.
Also I recommend to use Ubuntu Operating System, free as in freedom and free beer!
Do you know? In our(India) Supreme Court and other low class Courts they are using Ubuntu because of it highly secure!
sir, basically i am very naive to programming as i am medical student,so please execuse me for any foolish doubts.
ReplyDeleteI could not able to find any link for how to install "Cygwin".
And whatever steps you have mentioned are for "how to run a .sh script on a window$ machine"?
however i googled cygwin and installed it. then in drag sh file into cygwin command and press enter.it asked for edition no. i.e. 1,2,3,4,
but it could not download newpaper.
so please help..thank u

Good job Danial ! Thanks a lot ! :)
ReplyDeleteCould you make a script that would download and compile the whole Hindu e-paper into one pdf, after logging in with the subscriber's ID ?
That way, the script could be used by anyone who has subscribed to the hindu e-paper and it would be much easier for people to read the newspaper on their tablets and PCs.
Also, could such a script be scheduled to run at particular times of day to automate the e-paper downloading and compilation ?
ur user id and password isnt working
